Here are the top twelve roads in Europe with a Ferrari or Lamborghini supercar

At Gran Turismo we are obsessed with great roads, hotels, restaurants and places to visit. Our most important mission is to find the very best, something that has kept us busy in the last two decades.

The result is right here on this web site, in the form of La Guida - Supercar Owner’s Guide to Europe, and of course our printed books.

In our quest to explore and catalogue, we have driven nearly all the top roads in Europe. Furthermore, we have developed a classification system to categorise all the great roads we encounter. The metrics are driving excitement, scenery and asphalt quality.

Whenever we find a great road, we grade it using A-C on these three measurements. Most of the roads in this list are triple-A, but not all. Please note that there are probably some roads in Europe that we simply haven't had the chance to drive yet.

As an important note, Stelvio Pass is not on the list, simply because it is not that great. You have been lied to by Jeremy Clarkson and Top Gear. It is a famous road with a fantastic view, but not a spectacular drive.

Here they are: the best roads in Europe with a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche or any other supercar. We will start at number twelve and make our way to the top.

12. SS1 - Bracco Pass (Italy)

An amazing road between La Spezia and Sestri Levante on the Riviera. With many tight bends, it is especially suitable for nimble cars with a little less power. Think Lotus and you will understand. The road is very popular with motorcycle drivers and cyclists during the weekends, so please pay attention.

11. Furka Pass (Switzerland)

This is a great mountain pass in Switzerland, connecting the village of Gletsch in Valais and Andermatt in Uri. Especially, if you drive from the east to the west, the uphill sections towards the peak is an amazing drive.

However, the downhill section from the peak towards Andermatt is not that much fun at all. Actually quite scary. Hence, only place eleven on our list.

10. Grossglockner High Alpine road (Austria)

The Grossglockner High Alpine Road (in German Großglockner-Hochalpenstraße) is the highest surfaced mountain pass road in Austria. Going uphill on endless turns puts a smile on every driver's face. Add insane scenery and pool table perfect asphalt and you have a road that is one of the very best in the world.

9. Giau Pass (Italy)

Just south of Cortina is this fantastic mountain pass, also called Passo di Giau. Connecting the high altitude plateau in the north with the lower area of the south, this is probably one of the best driving roads in Italy.

8. Grimsel Pass (Switzerland)

This is a great mountain pass near Interlaken. Our recommendation is to approach from the north, from the village of Innertkirchen. The road will take you through a beautiful valley and then on a dramatic steep incline using some of the wildest serpentines you have ever experienced.

7. Grande Strada delle Dolomiti (Italy)

A road and mountain pass in the northeastern corner of Italy, connecting Bolzano with Cortina. The entire road is 110 kilometres long and takes about three hours to drive from start to finish. Insanely fun, especially the part between Canazei and Cortina.

6. M2.3 Budva to Podgorica (Montenegro)

This mountain pass in Montenegro goes from Budva on the coast, up the hill and over the mountain to Podgorica. While the road has been around for many decades, it was resurfaced to perfection in 2018, turning it from a good to a truly amazing driving experience.

5. Abetone Pass (Italy)

Passo dell'Abetone (or Abetone Pass) is one of the most exciting roads in Italy. Starting from Maranello in the north, it goes south uphill towards Tuscany and the village of Abetone. The road is amazingly fun to drive, especially the parts after Pavullo. You will have an insane amount of excitement pushing your supercar to the limits here.

4. Susten Pass (Switzerland)

With spectacular views, challenging curves and perfect asphalt, this is one of the very best driving roads in the world. Connecting Wassen in the east with Innertkirchen in the west, the road takes the driver over the peak which is 2 260 meters heigh. Both the ascent and descent are equally thrilling.

3. Adriatic Magistral North (Croatia)

The Adriatic Magistral North follows the coast from Rijeka to Split. It is one of the top five roads in the world. A great combination of corners, a spectacular view of the Adriatic Sea, and near perfect asphalt. A true masterpiece which scores full points for excitement, scenery and asphalt quality.

Please note that we are dividing the Adriatic Magistral into three parts: North (Rijeka to Split), South (Split to Dubrovnik) and Montenegro (Budva to Bar).

2. Route Napoleon (Grasse to Castellane) (France)

Route Napoleon, the stretch between Grasse and Castellane, is crazy fun with a proper supercar. The road is relatively wide, which allows for dynamic driving and high corner speeds.

The driving experience develops into a state of euphoria, where the rhythm of the curves, left and right, braking, accelerating and shifting gear becomes a wild dance with the laws of physics. The sensation is very difficult to explain.

1. SS 125 Orientale Sarda (Sardinia / Italy)

There are many great roads on this list. Then, there is SS125 Orientale Sarda between the villages Dorgali and Arbatax on Sardinia. This is the most incredible driving experience you will ever have.

Following the side of a mountain, the driving is spectacular. Many curves and straights following each other in a furious tempo. We are honestly sad that it is on an Island and not on the European mainland. Now we can only visit it once, or maybe twice a year.
