In January we invite you to join us for a very special journey to Rwanda, a small and beautiful country in the heart of Africa, home to one of the most remarkable wildlife encounters on Earth, the mountain gorillas of the Virunga mountains.
Our adventure begins on 27 January with arrival in Kigali, Rwandas clean, elegant and surprisingly modern capital. We check in to the Serena Hotel, where we gather for a relaxed welcome mingle by the pool before heading out for dinner at the excellent Kozo Restaurant.
On 28 January, those who wish may join an optional morning tour of Kigali to discover the citys fascinating history and vibrant culture.

After lunch at the hotel we depart in private 4×4 vehicles for the northern highlands and the town of Musanze, gateway to Volcanoes National Park.
Our destination is the beautiful Amakoro Lodge, nestled at the foot of the gorilla mountains. The lodge will be privatised exclusively for our group, and the evening concludes with dinner overlooking the forested slopes where the gorillas roam.
On 29 January we set out early by 4×4 to the park headquarters, where expert trackers guide us into the mountains. After roughly an hours trek through bamboo forests and volcanic slopes, we reach one of the worlds most extraordinary wildlife encounters, a close visit with a family of mountain gorillas, led by an imposing silverback.

The rule is simple: admire them quietly, avoid direct eye contact, unless, of course, you are curious to discover how easily a silverback can remove your arms. After our unforgettable time with the gorillas we return to the lodge for rest and dinner.
On 30 January the adventure continues with another drive into the mountains, this time to meet the lively golden monkeys, one of the rarest primates in Africa.
These energetic creatures are far less concerned with eye contact and generally prefer mischief to intimidation. After the visit we return to Amakoro Lodge for a relaxed afternoon and our final dinner together in the mountains.
On 31 January we transfer back to Kigali for departures
