So, you think the biggest thrill is driving a supercar on a race track? Going flat out down the Fuchsröhre on the Nurburgring?
Think again. It is not. Far from it. There is nothing more wild and thrilling like piloting a bobsleigh. The speed, the corners and the G-forces. Nothing comes close.
In 2021, we begin the season in St Moritz and the most famous bobsleigh track in the world: Olympia. It starts in St Moritz and goes all the way down to the village of Celerina. It is 1 700 meters long and is the most brutal and wonderful experience you will have in your life.
It is somewhat scary on your first run. An alien environment, sitting deep in the bob, pulling two levers to steer and braking with your feet, going down hill the icy tube towards the finishing line at ever increasing speeds.
It will be exciting like nothing else you have experienced, wanting more, more speed, more banked corners. Only you and the bobsleigh, at an incredible velocity. G-forces pulled in corners will be a reward, while your body is firmly pressed in to the sled. Soon you will go at speeds you did not think were possible, enjoying every bit of it, pushing your bob down the track towards the finishing line.
Just like any other race track in the world, your existence will be dominated by the fast twists and turns, doing your absolute best to steer your bob in the perfect line in the quest of the best lap time.
Bobsleigh is amazing. Once you do it, you will be completely obsessed by the experience. We did this in 2020, and want to share it with you, because we are absolutely sure you will love it just as much as we did.
On the arrival day, we meet in Badrutts Palace Hotel. Here we meet our instructors and have a theoretical introduction. You will learn about the bobsleigh, driving technique and the track.
The following three days we spend at the track. There will be track walks, where we learn every corner in detail. Later we start driving. Our first runs will be from half way down the track, with reduced speeds. Just to get us comfortable with the bob.
The next two days, we start from the top. From now on, you will happily enjoy the full experience, with all the speed and brutality you came for.
During our sessions the track is for us exclusively, with no other traffic. The last day we challenge each other, and we try to set the fastest times we can. The fastest times get a Gran Turismo St Moritz Trophy.
Our instructor is no less than Mr Dominik Scherrer. If you are in to winter sports, chances are you have heard his name before. He has been the head coach for both the Swiss and the British bobsleigh teams on Olympic level.
His calm and experienced instruction will give you the confidence to push your bob way beyond your comfort zone.
For this special event we are staying in Badrutts Palace. Located in the centre of St Moritz it is, without doubt, the number one winter hotel in the world. Service is elegant and impeccable.
During the afternoons, we will share the big hall of the hotel with royalty and many other famous people you will recognise. Le Grand Hall is the absolutely best place to see and be seen in St Moritz.
Badrutts Palace is the undisputed global jetset epicenter from the middle of January throughout February. It is an important part of your bobsleigh experience in St Moritz that we stay in this very hotel.
The event starts with check-in to Badrutts Palace and a theoretical introduction to bobsleigh. The following three days we spend on the track. Every night we have dinner in select restaurants in St Moritz. During the afternoons, after the activities, we enjoy Le Grand Hall in the hotel.
